A book that I really wanted to read, because it is the OPPOSITE of my own beliefs - this book is about how to find work-life balance, and subsequently find more meaning in life. As someone who priorities work above everything else, this was refreshing to read.
I haven’t made many notes as I read this on Kindle, but i’d highly highly recommend, as more than notes, this book just made me think.
- Tell team members that you’re only contactable on Slack 2x/day, urgent = Whatsapp
- Team catchups on a hike - mind is more creative in new surroundings
- Team planned time off, or set days/weeks with no email
- “Solvitor ambulando” - it is solved by walking
- Hikes near London
- Pets show us how to be our best selves, sticking their noses in everything, they see a world we take for granted, one which we’re usually just hurriedly passing through on our way to lives we never quite reach
- Ours is a generation bloated with information, but starved of wisdom
- Serenity prayer: Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things i can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
